About the Show
Speer, Hitler’s architect and armaments minister, was an unlikely Nazi: from a privileged family, he was educated and well-mannered. He didn’t seem to fit the image of a war criminal. Speer’s defence was very different from that of the other Nazis. He was the only one who unreservedly accepted responsibility for the Nazis’ crimes, against the advice of his lawyer. Yet what may have been genuine remorse could have just been a clever defence strategy. This film follows the showdown between Speer and Goering and provides fascinating insights into the ambiguous character of a man who many amongst the Allies regarded as a ‘good’ Nazi.
