About the Show
The remarkable life and times of the great American writer Samuel Clemens - better known as Mark Twain - are vividly chronicled, following his rise from a sickly youngster in Missouri, through his wanderings as a printer's apprentice, a Mississippi riverboat pilot, a Nevada prospector, a California journalist, and as a humorist on the lecture circuit. Also covered are his writing of some of the best-known and most influential works of American literature, and his tours of Europe, Australia, and other parts of the globe, which saw him become one of the first examples of a truly worldwide celebrity. His story is told extensively in Twain's own words, interspersed with interviews with some of the nation's most renowned writers and Twain scholars, combining the trove of Twain archival photographs with lush cinematography capturing the places he inhabited.
