Lost Nuke

About the Show

In February 1950, the world's largest bomber takes off on a secret Cold War mission from Alaska. Inside the B-36 is a MkIV nuclear bomb and its 13-pound plutonium core. During the mission, engine fires force the crew to abandon the bomber and, despite a search and rescue operation, five of the crewmen, along with the bomber and its nuclear weapon, are presumed lost in the Pacific Ocean. This is the story of how the aircraft was located some 200 miles north of its expected position.
