Building Star Trek

About the Show

When Star Trek aired in September of 1966, it showed us for the very first time an unimaginable world of sliding doors, hand-held communicators, and tiny discs that stored endless amounts of data. It also brought us the first black female in a leading role, and the very first interracial kiss on American television. Half a century after it first hit the airwaves, Building Star Trek explores the cultural and technological influences on today's world of this ground-breaking TV series.
