Ancient Greek Heroes

Former Olympic athlete Jonathan Edwards takes a voyage back in time, following Jason (played by Adam Rhys Dee) as he leads his Argonauts on a fabulous, perilous quest for the Golden Fleece. Through dramatic reconstructions, the programme explores the meaning of the myth and what it reveals about Ancient Greek society and the religious experience. For many, Jason was the original action hero, facing fierce Amazons, deadly clashing rocks, treacherous Sirens and a mighty dragon. Tales of his heroic feats have survived for over 2,500 years because his story is, at heart, the story of every boy's journey into manhood. It taught the ancient Greeks fundamental truths about men, and their relationship with women, and it still has much to teach people today. Part 1 of 2.
