The story of Timothy Coggins, a young Black man who was lynched in 1983 in Georgia, examining the deep-rooted racism that impacted the case and the long fight for justice.
In the first episode, we reveal how the prisoners built three huge tunnels and prepared 200 men for escape. We start in 1942, when the Nazi Reich is at the peak of its power, dominating almost all of Europe. Part 1 of 3.
In the second episode, Roger Bushell and the X Committee are devastated when their tunnel, nicknamed Tom, is discovered and destroyed by the ferrets. Spurred on by the news of another successful escape, Bushell soon decides to reopen their other tunnel. Part 2 of 3.
In the final episode, the escapees have fled in all directions. Out of 200 who were trying to get out, 76 made their escape. The 77th man was the one spotted and the remaining prisoners had no hope of following their friends through the tunnel. Part 3 of 3.
We meet the four main characters as they separately struggle to find a place in post-World War I aviation. Their struggles illuminate the challenges all aviation pioneers face in these early, uncertain days. After repeated setbacks, Trippe, Lindbergh, Sikorsky and Leuteritz join forces and, with the support of the U.S. government, set out to build an airline to Latin America. Part 1 of 3.
As they push southward, they build larger flying boats, harness radio to navigate safely over great distances, and, with help from the U.S. government, outwit all competing airlines to dominate service to Latin America and launch the global air tourism industry. Part 2 of 3.
Defying the skeptics, Trippe and his Pan Am colleagues build an airway to Asia. Leuteritz’s radio direction finders point the way, and Sikorsky’s latest flying boat, the S-42, pioneers the route. Two years later, Pan Am introduces service from New York to London, forging the last link in a chain of airways encircling the globe. Part 3 of 3.
The story of the pioneering women who changed the world while flying it. Maligned as feminist sellouts, 'stewardesses', as they were called, were on the frontlines of a battle to assert gender equality and transform the workplace. Part 1 of 2. (S)
