Design Squad Nation
Design Squad Nation
With the news that Brian Cox has made science 'sexy', leading to a rise in applications for science degrees, PBS presents this ten-part series aimed at getting kids geared up for engineering.
The Peabody and Emmy Award-winning show, Design Squad goes out on the road to help youngsters bring their dreams to reality. From building a skate park in an Apache reservation to creating a playground for kids in a remote Nicaraguan village, the Design Squad is always willing to help. No job is too large or small for the team, as they even enlist Project Runway's Christian Siriano to help design a red carpet gown.
Breaking from the original Design Squad's competitive element, the series aims instead to encourage youngsters to work together, confront problems and find and build their own solutions. Whether it's a cake that is part delicious, part electronic, and part mad scientist for the cast party of Young Frankenstein: The Musical; a pedal-powered bike organ or a human-powered flying machine, the team aims to show that -- within certain engineering tolerances -- the only limit is your imagination.
